Abstract

This article aims to present and criticize the evolution of the relationship between Zionist settler colonialism in Palestine and spatial planning. The article differentiates between the colonial purposed use of spatial planning for land use including the location of settlements, and the official planning which determines and specifies land use. Combined, these are centrally utilized in the Israeli matrix of spatial command and control. This planning holds semi-fixed characteristics toward realizing the Zionist project which has benefitted from the advancement and evolution of colonial examples to form a hybrid colonial situation.
