Gamophobia and its correlation to some variables among a sample of university female students

Abstract

The current research aims to study the correlation between gamophobia and some variables among female students in the University of Aleppo. Gamophobia is also known as phobia or fear of marriage. The researchers preferred to use the foreign term "Gamophobia" because there are several translations for it, in addition to the disagreement among researchers to ward its accurate translation. Also to prevent confusion between the original concept and others close to it. The researchers applied the gamophobia questionnaire on a sample of (200) single female students from Aleppo University. Descriptive research method was followed, and results indicated that there is a moderate level of gamophobia among University of Aleppo female students, there are no differences in gamophobia according to specialization, there are differences according to place of residence in favor of countryside, and according to previous marriage in favor to previously married.
