The Role of School Administration in the Professional Development as Viewed by Secondary School Teachers in the Negev

This study aimed to identify the role of school administration in supporting professional development in secondary schools in the Negev region from the male and female teachers` perspectives. The descriptive approach was used by using a survey to reach an interpretation of the role played by secondary school principals in the Negev. The study was applied to a random sample of (140) male and female principals in secondary schools in the Negev region. The study resulted in statistically significant differences in the averages of the role of school administration in the professional development of teachers as viewed by secondary school teachers in the Negev according to gender, academic qualification, and years of experience in school administration. The study recommended the necessity of integrating the work of school administration with what teachers do, because this would be a major factor in enhancing the quality of education in secondary schools.
